Started by carrying out a detailed technical study of all buildings in the institute and then determining the suitable retrofit criteria.

Criteria

  • Replacing chillers with more energy efficient ones
  • Connecting chillers to the chillers management system
  • Improving the efficiency of all Air Handling Units (AUH) and integrating them with the BMS
  • Replacing the traditional sodium fixtures with energy-efficient LED fixtures and installing movement sensors
  • Replacing window A/C with energy efficient split A/C
  • Replacing the swimming pool water heating system with a solar heating system
  • Adding control units to the ventilation fans in the car park area
  • Installing CO2 sensors in the car park area

Results

  • Achieving energy saving close to 50% of the previous total annual consumption
  • Avoiding 6,000 tons of harmful carbon emissions
  • Equivalent to growing 30,500 seedlings annually
