The National Energy Services Company (Tarshid) has launched the retrofitting project at Prince Abdulaziz Bin Musaed Hospital in Arar. This project aims to achieve a 14% reduction in energy consumption across the hospital's ten buildings, adhering to the best global standards.
Tarshid and the hospital have partnered to implement a comprehensive energy efficiency upgrade, utilizing best-in-class technologies and practices. Following extensive on-site surveys and technical studies, Tarshid identified nine key areas for improvement, including HVAC, lighting, and control systems.
Waled bin Abdullah Al-Ghreri, The Managing Director and CEO of Tarshid, explained that the project will involve installing a chiller plant management system, variable frequency drives on primary and secondary chilled water pumps, and smart thermostats for improved performance of packaged air conditioning units. The project also includes upgrading the building management system to control air handling units and retrofitting existing lighting with high-performance LED fixtures.
The project targets an annual electricity consumption reduction of 15 million kilowatt-hours to approximately 13 million kilowatt-hours, representing a 14% energy savings. This equates to conserving over 3,000 barrels of oil equivalent and reducing harmful carbon emissions by approximately 1,000 metric tons – the equivalent of planting more than 20,000 seedlings annually.
Tarshid, through its mission, is committed to serving the Kingdom's strategic sustainability goals, in line with Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to achieve significant energy savings and reduce carbon emissions.
