Mr. Walid Al-Ghreri, CEO of Tarshid, stated that the company has conducted field surveys and technical studies on the buildings and facilities within the project's scope, which include 16 buildings. These studies revealed the importance of incresing energy efficiency and reducing consumption in the associated buildings and facilities. The company also identified the necessity of implementing 8 key standards to improve energy efficiency. These standards encompass control, air conditioning, and lighting systems, the installation of a cooling plant management system, and the retrofitting of variable frequency devices on secondary chilled water pumps. Additionally, the project involves the installation of a control system for integrated air conditioning units through the implementation of smart thermostats, and the upgrading of the building management system to control air handling units. Furthermore, Tarshid will retrofit the lighting systems by replacing the existing traditional lighting with high-performance, energy-efficient LED systems that are suitable for operational environments.

It is worth noting that the project targets an annual electricity consumption of approximately 15 million kilowatt-hours. After the completion of the rtrofitting works, consumption is expected to decrease to around 12 million kilowatt-hours annually, achieving a targeted reduction of approximately 18%. In addition to the enhanced performance of air conditioning and lighting systems, the projected savings from the project are equivalent to avoiding the consumption of over 4,000 barrels of oil equivalent and preventing approximately 1,000 metric tons of harmful carbon emissions, which is comparable to the environmental impact of planting more than 26,000 saplings annually.

The National Energy Services Company (Tarshid) is committed to supporting the Kingdom's strategic sustainability goals, as outlined in Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to achieve significant energy savings and reduce carbon emissions.
