King Saud bin Abdulaziz University for Health Sciences in Riyadh, in cooperation with the National Energy Services Company (Tarshid), launched the installation solar panels project in the university's buildings and facilities. Through this initiative, Tarshid aims to increase energy efficiency and reduce consumption by producing solar energy for self-consumption across all buildings and facilities in line with the highest global standards.
Waled bin Abdullah Al-Ghreri, Board Member and CEO of Tarshid, said: "Following comprehensive technical assessments and energy audits of the buildings and facilities at King Saud University for Health Sciences, we recognized a significant opportunity to improve energy efficiency and reduce consumption through solar power. Therefore, we are implementing a robust 2,500 kW solar panel system, which will be installed on the rooftops of university buildings. This system is projected to generate 4 million kWh of clean, renewable energy annually, primarily for the university's own use”.
The project's expected energy savings are equivalent to the conservation of more than 6,600 barrels of oil, and the reduction of approximately 2,000 metric tons of harmful carbon emissions—equivalent to the environmental impact of planting more than 39,000 tree seedlings annually. Tarshid, through its mission, is committed to serving the Kingdom's strategic sustainability goals, in line with Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to achieve significant energy savings and reduce carbon emissions.
