The National Energy Services Company (Tarshid) and the Institute of Public Administration in Riyadh have launched a solar panels installation project across the institute’s buildings and facilities. The initiative aims to improve energy efficiency and reduce electricity consumption through on-site solar energy generation for self-consumption, aligned with global standards and sustainable best practices.
Waled Abdullah Al-Ghreri, Board Member and CEO of Tarshid, stated that the company conducted comprehensive field surveys and technical studies to assess the potential for improving energy performance across the institute’s facilities. Based on the findings, Tarshid proceeded with the installation of rooftop solar panel systems, introducing a critical efficiency measure that supports clean, renewable electricity production for internal use. The total installed system capacity across all buildings is 682 kilowatts, projected to save approximately 1 million kilowatt-hours annually.
The project targets a reduction in annual electricity consumption from 25.5 million kWh to 24.4 million kWh, the equivalent environment impact of saving more than 1,700 barrels of oil annually and avoiding approximately 600 metric tons of carbon emissions each year, comparable to planting over 10,000 tree seedlings annually. The National Energy Services Company (Tarshid) seeks through its mission to serve the Kingdom's strategic sustainability goal, emanating from Vision 2030 and aimed at achieving energy savings and reducing carbon emissions.
